Based in Lisbon office and reporting to the Head of HSE, The HSE Manager will be responsible for the coordination of the Health & Safety and Environmental for a considerable part of the portfolio. The HSE Manager will be responsible for managing the local HSE teams. The HSE Manager will set up and monitor an ongoing and dynamic approach to Health & Safety and Environment, supporting the operation of Ventient’s wind farms and its extension initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of HSE policies and procedures and ensuring their implementation;
  • Participation and coordination of internal and external audits at a country level;
  • Implementation and maintenance of action plans concerning preventive and corrective
  • activities at wind farms;
  • Implementation and coordination of emergency procedures;
  • Contractor’s monitoring & supervision of compliance with legal and Ventient requirements;
  • Support to Ventient local organizations to guarantee compliance with legal requirements;
  • Provide guidance to colleagues and contractors as required, e.g. guidance on method statements, safe systems of work, updated legislation etc., transferring best practice across different jurisdictions;
  • Definition of HSE training plans at a local level;
  • Support on the definition of company wide HSE policy, guidelines, procedures, objectives and KPIs;
  • Manage, monitor and analyse HSE performance data;
  • Respond and investigate accidents and incidents as required, ensuring clear investigations with identification of areas for improvement;
  • Support on the identification of hazards, evaluation and control of professional and environmental risks;
  • Participation on the design of initiatives to promote environmental and safety awareness internally and externally; 
  • Regular meetings with global and local functions to discuss HSE needs and provide support through the corporate and local team;
  • Review and validation of HSE requirements on contracts.

Relevant Experience

  • Experience working with IS0 14001, ISO45001 and IS0 9001 management systems;
  • Integration of processes and procedures between multiple areas within the company;
  • Experience of managing HSE on the energy sector across with multiple parties/countries is desirable. Renewables experience will surely be a plus.


Education & Qualifications


  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Environmental Engineering;
  • Health & Safety Diploma accordingly with the Portuguese legislation (CAP Level VI Senior Safety Technician) or Spanish legislation;
  • Relevant experience, over 6 years, as HSE professional. Preferably supporting international operations;
  • Internal auditor on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and knowledge of ISO 9001;
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese/Spanish. Other language is desirable;
  • Driver’s license.


Software Programmes


  • Good knowledge of Office 365 collaboration tools;
  • Knowledge in SharePoint;
  • Knowledge in HSQE specific softwares is desirable.


Travel Requirements 


  • Availability for traveling in Europe (specially in Portugal and Spain).
