Main Function & Scope

To lead Ventient’s repowering programme for the UK and other growth initiatives.


Whilst this role is advertised as remote working, we operate an Agile Working policy which allows employees to work flexibly near our office locations in either Edinburgh, London, Alges and Madrid. You must have the right to work in the UK and the European Union.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategic review of repowering opportunities, focussing in the UK initially with potential for expansion in Europe.
  • Manage the assessment of economic viability for repowering including the preparation of recommendations for the timing of repowering.
  • Manage the assessment of technical feasibility for repowering and establishing the priority order for repowering individual sites.
  • Lead negotiations with landlords and agents to secure Option Agreements to repower wind farms and to develop extensions and colocation with complimentary technologies such as solar PV and Hydrogen capacity.
  • Work with Legal and Financial departments on the management of ongoing lease and landowner issues and dispute resolution.
  • Work with Asset Management team to resolve operational issues at sites as required. 
  • Lead the extension of planning consents to allow for operational lifetime extensions for our UK wind farms.
  • Coordinate EIA processes and consultancy teams.
  • Work with the asset management and stakeholder engagement teams to consult, engage and build support with local communities.
  • Work with the team in exploring and delivering new growth opportunities which may include new or emerging technologies.

Skills & Knowledge


  • Technical understanding of the UK planning system
  • Understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment for onshore wind farms
  • Ability to deliver land agreements including leases and option agreements

Relevant Experience


  • Onshore wind development (>2 years)
  • Experience in land agreements or acquisition
  • Experience with the UK planning system


  • Onshore wind development (<5 years)

Education & Qualifications


  • Relevant degree or equivalent


  • Qualifications in planning, land management or surveying disciplines.
