Main Function & Scope

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management Germany, this role will be accountable for managing the relationship with Ventient’s third party asset managers and ensuring the correct supervision, management, and performance of our German portfolio. This role will have direct responsibility for representing Ventient’s Asset Management interests, while interfacing with various stakeholders, both internal and external.


On top this role we take operational responsibility for a defined numbers of assets involving field activities from time to time.


This role will also drive project improvement initiatives lead by the asset management team within the region, focusing on delivery of safe, highest technical and commercial performance. Hereby it is also required to life and support our ESG projects.


Further there is potential to assist our organic growth team on the development of our repowering projects, supporting the planning, licensing, design, and execution of onshore wind projects.   

Key Responsibilities

1. Third Party and Contractor Management 

  • Leading and managing third party managers on a day-to-day basis, to deliver a high standard of performance.
  • Acting as the central point of contact for Ventient with regards to the assigned assets. Hereby developing a pragmatic and good relationship with key stakeholders for each of the wind farms to assure that Ventient’s obligations are fulfilled.
  • Ensure that our third-party managers are fulfilling their contractual obligations to deliver strong operational performance and safe and reliable operations through:
    • Monitoring delivery of the key actions ongoing with O&M contractors
    • Site visits and audits with the third-party Asset Manager and O&M contractor to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations and gain assurance on the operational integrity of our fleet.
    • Analysis of operational data to review performance and help identify areas for improvement, working with the third-party manager and where appropriate utilising specialist support within Ventient to deliver the results.
    • Acting as the central point of contact for operational matters within the region for Ventient, working with colleagues to deliver Ventient’s goals on availability, HSE, ESG and improving the long-term value of the portfolio.
  • Working with the third-party manager to ensure that Ventient have a full record of all key contracts, technical data and design information.

2. Asset Management 

  • Forming strong relations with third parties, providing services to the assets, in order that value and risk opportunities are recognised and addressed.
  • Reviewing key operational performance, including analysis of asset performance and where applicable, monitor Scada data and co-ordinating more detailed commercial and technical analysis together with the Performance team.
  • Day to day management of the assets P&L. Analysis of key revenue and cost variances, and liaison with Finance team on P&L variances versus budget and impact on cash flow. Hereby the management and preparation of the financial statutory accounts is under the responsibility of the Finance team.
  • Support the preparation of the asset budgets, annual- and long-term plan and interface between Ventient’s finance and operational teams.
  • Initial management of HSE for the assigned assets. Co-ordinate HSE resource from Ventient/third parties to gain assurance of HSE performance in line with Ventient expectations. Support the internal HSE reporting.
  • Input into the risk register and manage to mitigate risks.
  • Provide support to Ventient’s Procurement and Commercial Manager to help to obtain proposals, review of contracts and recommendations on suitable contract scope for the portfolio to deliver the best possible returns.
  • Review invoices for payment and approve (or seek internal approval) and co-ordinate payment approval process with Commercial Managers, including translation/summary of documents/invoices from German into English.
  • Following up on claims or disputes, ensuring that these are resolved quickly in line with Ventient’s expectations.
  • Act as operational representative for assigned sites involving the day-to-day management, site inductions and inspections, managing the interface to the grid operator to plan HV switching activities and to handle compensations for grid curtailments.
  • Maintain an operational asset register, lifetime event data base and inspection records of the assigned assets. Plan periodical inspections, review the outcome and manage the rectification of deviations to the standard.
  • Support the implementation of operational excellence and maintain best practice as well as zero accidents.

3. Performance Improvement Projects & Cross Collaboration

  • Interface for monitoring and execution of Performance Improvement and ESG projects, both initiatives led by the TCMA and/or O&M provider and Ventient deployed initiatives.
  • Cross fertilisation of ideas and disciplines with the inorganic- and organic growth team to ensure that there is a value driving and risk mitigation discipline within business development and our existing portfolio.
  • Liaise with regional and local authorities, internal and external stakeholders to support our organic growth plan e.g., repowering projects.

    • Running a diverse number of onshore wind assets (in Germany) under investment and high ESG discipline
    • Strong commercial and technical discipline and insight in the market

      Relevant Experience


      • Experience in technical management, operation and maintenance of onshore wind farms in Germany (>3years)
      • Demonstrable experience of managing projects
      • Demonstrable experience of managing third parties


      • Experience with commercial management of onshore wind farms in Germany
      • Qualification as senior authorised electrical person to perform HV switching activities and willingness to take over electrical responsibility
      • Experience and qualification to manage HSE responsibilities or willingness to take over HSE responsibilities

      Education & Qualifications

      • Certified Electrical Technician or
      • Degree in Engineering field or equivalent
      • Trained as Wind Turbine Service Technician, team lead and/or experience as a technical operator/asset manager of wind assets (desirable)

      Software Programmes

      • Microsoft Office Suite
      • SCADA Systems (desirable)

      Travel Requirements 

      • Regular Travel within Germany to attend sites
      • Infrequent UK and EU wide Travel
