The Innovation, Research and Development Department, working in close collaboration with our internal teams and partnering with both the reference suppliers and the scientific community, will boost the acquisition of new know-how in all critical and strategic areas of the company, thus supporting the accomplishment of the it’s while reaching innovative milestones within the sector.

 

The Innovation, Research and Development (IRD) Engineer is a key member of the Asset Performance Department but will work closely with all departments. Led by the IRD Manager, the IRD Engineer function provides important inputs to the company’s organic growth by developing, leading the workstream and managing innovation and research projects in all critical and strategical areas of the company’s operation, with stronger focus in Performance Improvement Initiatives and Wind Turbine Lifetime Assessment across the Ventient Energy portfolio. The IRD Engineer will also address the implementation of the innovative solutions and products across the portfolio.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the company’s internal teams to define and manage innovation, research and development (IRD) projects in the company’s critical and strategic areas.
  • Lead the innovation and research workstream of IRD projects focusing technical aspects that increase the company’s value.
  • Lead the implementations of the innovative technical solutions and strategies developed in IRD projects in the company’s processes and across the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement data analysis workstreams to improve the company’s value by extracting relevant information from its large data sets, generated across the portfolio.
  • Actively search for IRD external funding programs and manage its attribution and allocation across the countries in which the company operates and across the internal teams.

 

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in programming, in R, Python or MATLAB.
  • Self-learned with a hands-on mindset and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Results focused and teamwork oriented.
  • UK and Continental European travel from time to time.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical / aerospace / civil / nautical or equivalent
  • Knowledge of numerical modelling, structural and/or aeroelastic.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, condition assessment and fatigue assessment.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing data sets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in Portuguese.

 

Also valued:

  • PhD degree.
  • MSc thesis addressing aspects of the wind energy sector.
  • Experience in the wind energy sector, particularly if addressing technical issues.
  • Experience in wind turbine component design, operation, and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience of computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Experience in working with ANSYS, SAP2000, ABAQUS or Code-Aster and in OpenFAST, HAWC2, Bladed or similar.
  • Additional language skills (Spanish, French or German)
